So the Warewolves kicked off the start of the season with a tough home tie to last year's 3rd place finishers Cottered and going into this opening battle was never going to be easy. With a slow start from the mighty Wolves, opening game nerves perhaps got the better of the boys as pressure from the opposition soon built up and it wasn't long until the Wolves found themselves a goal down following some sloppy play at the back. This was just the kick up @r$e the Wolves needed as the ball floated in from a corner which was met by Lethal Chardy Bizzle in the box with a bullet header to the top right hand corner 1-1 game on! There was a great buzz about the game now as the wolves started to dominate possession and dictate the state of play. Fortunately for the Wolves Cottered took the lead again but the goal was ruled offside and disallowed. This spurred on the Wolves to try and get in the lead before the break and that's exactly what happened when following a corner the ball dropped perfectly to Wolves left back Dan Knowles as he pile drived a 25 yard volley with his left foot into the top left corner, cottered keeper had no chance, finishing the half 2-1 to the Wolves. The Second half kicked off much better and the boys looked sharp and confident, but to everyone's disbelief the referee awarded Cottered a very dubious penalty which the striker easily put away sending Thrussell the wrong way. This just added fuel to the fire for the determined Wolves who battled strongly and reaped the benefits in the 75th minute when following a great move Wellsy smashed the ball goal bound but the keeper saved parrying out the ball which fell straight to Matty Brooks feet, a lot of players in this situation would of just smashed the ball goal wards and hoped for the best, but Brooks had the skill and composure to coolly slot the ball straight to Chard who was eagerly waiting for the simplest of tap ins. 3-2 to the Warewolves and game over. Fantastic start to the season with everyone playing there part in the game. Well done lads.........Howlllllllllllllllllllllll!!! |
