Warewolves 3 - 1 Royston Town

Team Report Team Formation

Star Man

Well what a day! Everyone knew how important a win was today and with attitudes spot on from the start we all felt the buzz in the air and felt confident of a good result today and that was exactly what we got. After a 'Rocky' style preperation the boys warmed up determined to get maximum points and with there 'Hearts on Fire' and with the 'eyes of tigers' they kicked off the match. First to every ball, second to nothing and looking like the team everyone knew they could be.

It wasn't long until the Warewolves broke the dead lock after Bell got put through on goal, the keeper did well and got something on the strike but Bell followed it in and tapped home to Roystons disbelief who assumed the inform striker was offside, as the linesman had raised his flag, however justice prevails as perhaps if there flag happy linesman wouldn't of been so eager in the first 15 minutes then the Ref may have given this decision.

The Warewolves were not sitting on this lead at all and continued to dominate the possession of play, and this was quickly rewarded following an excellent bit of play from J.Wells set up Wilkie to smash home from 18 yards. A wonderous strike to the keepers bottom left, which was exactly what the Wilkie needed to boost his confidence. 2 - 0 up and cruising. Royston tried to get back into the game with some good offensive spells, but failed to worry our impressive back 3, who never put a foot wrong all game. Bell could of had a second as J.Wells again laid of a wonderful ball putting the striker 1 on 1 with the keeper, but failed to make good contact with the ball which went wide.

However, the Warewolves soon found themselves another goal in front following one of Wilkie's long throws almost acting like a corner which was met by Dave Speller's fantastic leap heading the ball home to put the score 3 goals to the good.

Royston managed to sneak a goal back seconds before the half time whistle as a half cleared chance was put back into the danger zone which keeper Thrussell palmed out to the eagily awaiting Royston striker who headed into the back of the net.

The second half was full of more excitement, although no goals to show for our efforts, we always felt comfortable and apart from the odd attack didnt really have much to sweat about. More chances came to put the score even higher with J.Wells coming close on numerous occasions and again Bell just putting the ball wide of the goal.

Man of the match today could of gone to a number of players, as everyone played out of there skin, but it has to go to Mark Fowler, who was awesome today and shwoed what a player he can be if he concentrates and gets his head on the game.
