Unfortunatley another defeat this week, this time at the hands of Watton at Stone, that's 5 games now without a win and with the undefeated, early league toppers Royston as our next opponents things couldn't be any worse down in the Warewolves camp.
Saturday's game started off ok, it was always going to take the boys 5 or 10 minutes to settle down and get used to the new 3-5-2 formation, playing with wing backs and a sweeper. But once they all settled down we looked sharp and determined to get a win today. Everyone looked focused and new what there individual roles were throughout the team and as mentioned before the game nothing but a win would of been good enough today.
However today just wasnt to be our day, as with previous weeks, lady luck just wasnt on our side and after a gruelling 90 minutes of hardwork yet again we came out on the losing end, picking up no points and our 3rd loss to the season.
After going 1 - 0 up following a deflected shot from Speller see the ball bounce off Chards thigh and trickle into the back of the net, not the most spectacular of finishes, but at the moment I think the Wolves would take any goal considering the poor lack of finishing of late. However the score was soon put back to 1 - 1 as a mistake at the back allowed the Watton forward a free strike at goal whizzing past Thrussell. Into the break then and with everything to play for, again we came out the traps looking determined to get a victory today. But as mentioned it just wasnt going to be as chance after chance went by, hitting the bar, the posts and everying else except the back of the net.
Then around the 75th minute the Watton winger delivered an inch perfect pass to the oncoming striker who tidely finished and put the score 2 - 1 to Watton which ended up being todays result.
Gutted, Pissed-Off, Upset, Angry, and Annoyed are just some of the emotions the Warewolves camp can only be experiencing at the moment.
Let's hope they can put thing's right for next week. |
