Harlow Link 2 - 4 Warewolves

Team Report Team Formation

Star Man

Week 2 see the Warewolves take on early league toppers Harlow Link who were coming off the back of a good 6 - 2 win last week against Wodson, so everyone new this wasn't going to be a walk in the park. The game started off great and the wolves came out the traps looking sharp, confident and positive and we soon found ourselves in the lead following a bullet crunching header in the centre of the park by Mabrook, which fell straight to wilkie's left foot, who flicked it onto Chard who dinked the ball beautifully over the keepers head and it didnt stop there, 5 minutes later and still dominating play the Wolves found themselves 2 nil up which see a deep long throw by Wilkie met by the left shin of Brooks, which the keeper failed to reach. Things looked great at this point and it looked like there was no way back for Harlow Link who struggled to get into the game thus far.....HOWEVER, I can only really sum up the next 20 minutes as diabolical! Not only did we completely sit back and switch off we started playing our oppenents long ball game. We're a footballing side and in the last 20 minutes of the first half i didnt see any football, everyone looked like they lost interest and no-one was playing the simple ball and as a result we let in 2 sloppy goals and went into the break 2 - 2. So the second half kicked off with Phillips replacing Fowler and we soon looked back to best, and thankfully it wasn't long until we were back playing quick one touch football and simple balls to feet, and this was all what was needed to overcome Harlow on the day and take the full 2 points we deserved. Goals in the 2nd half came from Chard again chasing onto a J.Wells flick and smashing home a left foot drive (4 in 2 for the inform striker) and the final goal coming from a great individual bit of skill from J.Wellls, flicking it past the defender and placing it top right of the keepers goal. Wells could of got his second but failed to convert from the spot kick following a challenge in the box on Muir who replaced Chard on the 78th minute along with D.wells replacing Mabrook. Roll on next week, Saracens at home!!!
